Marisa and Maribel are dancers and choreographers respectively based in Kansas and Texas. Their current practice focuses on flamenco technique and choreography, and they have trained with mentors in both the U.S. and Seville, Spain.
Marisa holds a PhD in Theater, Dance, & Performance Studies from UC Santa Barbara. She has held visiting positions in dance at Reed College, Tufts University, and the University of Kansas, where she teaches courses in dance history and modern and contemporary dance.
Maribel received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University. She currently leads book clubs on dance and the creative process at Frame Dance, where she is a curriculum specialist and has taught children’s ballet. Maribel performs in flamenco dance shows and tablaos in Houston, Texas. She recently collaborated with Rhapsode Guild to workshop improvised dance to a new composition by Stephen Yip. Maribel also loves percussion and began playing the drums 8 years ago. She has studied with Troy Nicar for the past four years.
